About business.
Book Directly with boat owner and save big! The owner is the captain as well, so you know you will be taken care of!
We catch sailfish, marlin, tuna, dorado, wahoo, grouper, roosterfish, and snapper.
Fish with "The Gringo" Captain John aboard the Stress Reeliever. "Stress Reeliever" is a professionally rigged 32 foot Ocean Master with high end Furuno electronics and the finest in fishing tackle. Recently the recipient of a $50,000 overhaul (July 2009), it is the newest and nicest boat in the Quepos Fleet. Brand new 2009 6 liter Cummins Diesel with transmission, VHF radios, Furuno GPS, 24 Mile Radar, Furuno commercial grade sonar, cell phone, Fighting Chair and belts, Rupp tuna tower, Shimano / Penn Reels, Calstar Graphite trolling rods, lots of shade, flushing private marine toilet, BBQ pit, First-Aid Kit, and all the necessary emergency / safety equipment onboard. Boat is equipped with a live well and tuna tubes. We also have a smaller bait fishing boat fishing for us exclusively ensuring we have the live bait required for the trip without wasting the customers time looking for bait (works with most inshore baits). We also have Gyro Stabilized Binoculars, they only ones in Costa Rica, and can spot birds and floating objects at 3-4 miles, greatly increasing our fishing finding ability. By the time you read this, we will also have bought the latest in greatest in whatever else we can find that will make your trip more productive. I love new fishing toys!
Location / coverage area.
We fish out of Quepos and Manuel Antonio.
We can usually get a 5-10 percent commission if you let us book your hotel and we can pass those savings on to you as a fishing discount. We want you to have the best time here possible and saving money is just so much fun! :)
Pricing and payments info.
Full Day Offshore
Offshore trips usually consist of Sailfish, Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Yellow Fin Tuna, Dorado / Mahi Mahi, Red Pargo / Snapper, Giant Grouper / JewFish and Wahoo. We fish between 18 and 40 miles offshore depending on where the fish are!
Inshore Trips
Inshore trips consist of RoosterFish, Snook, Mackeral, and Red Pargo / Snapper. Inshore trips are nice if you like to see the pristine undeveloped coastline North and South of Quepos.
Full day packages start at 7am and run till 4pm and are often a bit extended due to long Marlin or Sailfish fights. Half day trips are typically five hours long and can be scheduled by the customer (morning fishing is usually the best.)
Trip price is for all passengers not per person. Boat can comfortably fish 4 anglers, and we can allow a couple extra passengers (spectators) if needed. Trip price does not include fishing license which is 25 per person per year. We can setup transport as well, and are good at seeking out the best deals to save your hard earned money. I also love Costa Rica questions and can give you the insider point of view on anywhere in the country. We are super flexible and can work with anybody. Just send us an inquiry and we'll get you fishing!
All charters include: Hamburgers or chicken hot off of the grill, fresh cold fruit snacks, Ice cold beer and soft drinks, bait, mate and conventional tackle.
